This post is a follow on to Steve's recent post and responses about tinning
connectors.

I am very sensitive to the requirement about removal of gold from 95% etc
etc as stated in J-Std-001. So whenever we see something that appears Gold,
we double solder-dip the part.

However, what I'd like to know is.....

1) How common is this GXT(tm) finish? Do most "Gold leaded" devices have
this finish?
2) Are there any Class 3 builders out there that use parts with this finish
"as is"?
3) Does soldering the part "as is" result in normal looking solder joints?
4) Are qualified parts (e.g. Mil-C-55302) allowed to have this finish?

Thanks to all who can respond.
