Hi Scott,

Just a small comment. I have a simple solution when you run in situation
like this... Why not ask the customer before you build? That may sound
stupid, but if you have good communications with your customer and keep
records of exactly how to interpret their specifications, you should be able
to avoid little, expensive questions like these. You must not go crazy and
ask about self-evident situations, just the ones that you consider open to
interpretation.

Who said: "When in doubt? Ask!". Worked in school, works in business.

Just one last note... You may ask on the phone or via e-mail, but ask for a
signed copy of their answers in writing, that way they will avoid changing
their answers. Clients will usually comply just for peace of mind... You
both have written proof of the exchange.

Just my 2 cents,

Subject: [TN] Laminate thickness verses finish thickness

I am hoping that someone can send me a email copy of IPC-300G, Section 3,
specifically 3.2.2. I have been going round and round with a customer that
specified 0.062" laminate with 1oz copper both sides. Their mechanical
drawing only states this and does not refer to finished thickness or if it
is glass/glass or metal/metal. According to Mil Spec laminate is excluding
copper so if the call out is 0.062" laminate with 1 oz copper we concluded
that they wanted 0.062" laminate.

Your help would be appreciated
