Also an experience we had was trapped soldermask in the hole not being completely cured due to UV light not fully exposing the material. During reflow we experienced explosive outgassing causing solder bridging under BGAs. We solved the problem by heat curing the boards in an oven for 4 to 6 hours just prior to assy. It eliminated the problem.

Subject: [TN] Blow Holes
I'm having a problem with blow holes occurring in a thick board that I'm
running on a wave solder machine. As a test I am going to bake the boards
for 24hrs to remove moisture from the board and eliminate this as a cause of
the problem. Is there any thing else that cold be causing blow holes?
