Alan,

We require eye-glass type eye protection for anyone entering the wave-solder room. For unloading boards, we use heavy leather gloves that don't "shed" very much. And we clean our boards after wave so some smaller sheds get washed off there. De-drossing requires gloves, a leather apron, and a respirator (with training on its use). I am not sure on the type of respirator cartridges the we use, but I think they are combo particle and chemical fume cartridges.
Flux work requires heavy latex gloves, the chemical safety is a concern, but the techs wear them for the percieved benefit of not getting sticky from the flux (RMA).

Hello Technetters:

I'm curious what other companies are doing in the wave solder area for: eyewear,
smocks, respirators, gloves, etc. when: loading and unloading boards/fixtures;
de-drossing the solder pot; refilling or cleaning the fluxer area; or any other
wave solder related tasks.

Any recommendations on style/company of the PPE would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
