Since the latest virus infections happen as soon as you click on the
offending program two precautions would seem to be in order.  Install virus
detection software and keep it up to date.  Second would be to NOT place the
TechNet's address in your e-mail address book, where the viruses look for
them.

We could make this a unofficial requirement to subscribe to the TechNet.
