I know that there are companies who have harvested my name
off of TechNet for the purposes of spamming. As an "experienced"
spamfighter, I follow up with each of these to their upstream providers
and do get satisfaction from about 50% of these efforts. (www.samspade.org
is a very very useful tool).

I also make it a point to reply to the individual whos spammed the list
(and to their management, if I can find that on the web) that I will
never, ever do business with them, and by spamming, they place
their company alongside pyramid scam offers, child porno
spammers, and illegal chain letters. I've gotten some interesting
replies (including a registered letter from one outfit).

While it's not much, I'd like to think that some of these efforts help
up from being swamped from such drek. (Opt - out IS SPAM!)

Rgds and happy Monday,
John
