I'm surprised this doesn't happen more.

DoveBid, Inc. is just playing the odds. They may reap the wrath of 1500
TechNetters, but if it leads to even one sale they win! It cost them
nothing to try, and the only potential penalty is that they won't be
able to try it here again. The bad reputation they should get will fade
from most people's minds as fast as they can hit the delete and forget
key.

Inevitably for some, the temptation of a great "deal" will outweigh
their indignation over DoveBid's spam, and they'll buy.
