Dennis: Yano, "point of use" is one of those buzz words that has as many meanings as
there are consultants selling the concept. Our "point of use" stocking is really
decentralized stocking, with all, except "A" unit price inventory items, out of the
stock room and located in (or hopefully near) either:
*  "Where used" work cell.
* "Principle where used" work cell for items used in multiple work cells and floor
stock.

… And the stocked location work cell staff:
* Retrieve in-bound material from the receiving dock.
* Enter in-bound material receipt in to the computer.
* Inspect and accept / reject, receive, and stock ("kit") catalog items (and enter it
into the computer).
* Deliver build to print items to work cell QC for acceptance / rejection.
* Either stock ("kit") or deliver build to print items to the receiving dock for
return to the supplier (and enter it into the computer).
* Review the work cell ship schedule to determine kit pull requirements.
* Issue pull sheet for "complete" kits.
* Remove material from stock to meet kit requirements (and enter it into the
computer).
* Deliver the kit according to the work plan.

Pluses are:
*  Lower staffing costs
* Elimination of bottle necks at receiving, acceptance, and kitting.

Negatives are:
* People become the wall protecting their stock from the dark side that would have
them working at McDonald’s after they retire. As with many walled stock room
operations, maintaining inventory accuracy is crucial, eliminating profit killing
physicals.
* Management weenies must stand and deliver in supporting the troops.
