Hey Steve, Patty & everybody,

Ya might want to run the photo permission past your legal department to
cover bases. Steve took the picture but you did it at work, with company
equipment so they own the rights to it. (And no I'm not a lawyer but, I
play one on TV. Tee hee)

Photo credits either per photo (very messy) or on a separate
credits/acknowledgements page is a very nice courtesy. Back at CSC we had
to find the photos we wanted (or near enough) and then get written
permission to use them. Our typical Photo Release Form was a one pager,
signed and possibly notarized, that says we "CSC" own the pic now and in
anything we do - print, TV, . . .

It wasn't Steve's soldermask process but the Fab house that has problem(s).
Now, that Fab House wouldn't want to be publicly associated with the board.

Hans

Steve,

Thanks.
I want the photos for use in an IPC document, IPC-PE-740, the
"Troubleshooting Guide for Printed Board Manufacture and Assembly", since we
don't have a photo showing this condition. We generally don't give credit
for photos in IPC documents (usually people don't want credit for photos of
defects anyhow), but list contributors in the front of the document.
If I or anyone else were to use the photos in something else (like a
textbook or a paper or presentation), it would be common courtesy to give
credit to the photographer, along with getting permission.
That's how I see it.

<< Patty,
If you saw Steve's photos, you already downloaded them. Look in
your "Temporary Internet Files" folder. You can simply click and drag the
jpeg files to a safer location in your computer. Technically, Steve still
owns the copyright and will need to respond that it is OK to use his
 pictures. >>
