We were asked this question so many times that we wrote a paper on it. This
is posted on the web at http://www.datumdynamics.com "Design Rules for
Selective Wave Solder".

In short the distance required varies with SMT component height and
direction relative to wave.

We are always happy to review customer layouts at the design stage (it saves
so much heartache later on).

Would anyone know the minimum recommended distance of the lead from a
through hole component protruding through the bottom of a PCB and the
nearest component to ensure proper wave soldering on the leads without voids
or bridges??
