Obtain a copy of ANSI/ESD S20.20 by downloading it from the ESD Association
web site, and check your current program to insure that it complies. This
program covers the charged device model and machine models that are evident
in smt lines, especially in handling and placement equipment.
I have no idea what a "grass root" ESD program is. Could you be more
explicit? If you are just considering the Human body model in your program
you may have to expand your program to cover smt equipment ESD protection in
grounding and handling.

Subject: [TN] SMT Line & ESD

Hello Fellow TechNets,

        I'm submitting this for feedback.

For our SMT Assembly lines (stencil; pick-n-place; reflow), I'm
curious as to how companies address ESD issues that can come into play. We
process .032 and .062 multi-layer, mixed technology, panelized boards.
We have a fairly sound 'grass-root' ESD program throughout
Manufacturing, and questions have come up lately regarding the SMT Lines (we
have two of them).

                                                        Thanks In Advance,
Ed Noble
