Does anyone know solder wire drawing facility who would do small quantity
work? I have 8 lb of high creep resistance soldering wire need to be
re-drawed to smaller diameter. The alloy is after market product (can't get
it anymore in north America). The material is Sn/Ag/Sb/Cd(1%). The current
material is in spool format with diameter of 35 mil. I would like to reduce
the solder wire to 20 mil. (I did some experiment using Instron with
heating zone, with papameter of 2 lb constant force, withdraw rate of 50
mil/min. and approx. 70-80 C produce relatively consistant 20 mil wire = 1
ft long....Don't laugh at me if you have the dies and drawing
machine...)...I have contacted few large solder supplier with no luck. The
precious metal solder guy would not touch it (it will contaminate their
product)...Any leads or contact names will be most appreciated. I can be
reached at Eastern day time from 8:00 to 4:30 at 416-249-1231x5430. Thanks
in advance.
