Rich,

ISO 9000 does not demand a specific personnel level for the certification,
it demands that you document what you do and do what you document. It will
demand at least a couple of persons to make sure the documentation is kept
up to date if you have a medium to high number of processes, but each
document could be assigned a person responsible to keep it up to date.

ISO 9000 does not guarantee high quality, it guarantees consistent or
improving quality. If a company produces poor quality products but is well
documented on how they do their crappy goods, well they can get ISO
certified.

Hope this helps,

Subject: [TN] Quality System Support

Our company is currently pursuing the ISO 9002 registration. We have
approx. 120 people over two shifts. Our annual sales is about 13 million.
My questions are:

1.) How many quality representatives should a company have based on the
information given to effectively implement AND maintain the ISO
registration? Please note: In addition to ISO requirements, we also have
customers that require us to satisfy the QS9000 requirements (PPAP, FMEA,
Control Plan, APQP, etc...)

2.) Does anyone know what should be a good quality system/support "template"
for a company our size? (How many people for our size company)

Right now we have two people trying to do everything. My initial thought
was there should be (1)Supplier Quality Rep, (2)
Manufacturing Quality Reps, and (1) Customer Quality Rep. in order to
achieve and maintain this registration. (But I need some help)

Thanks in advance for any information.
