Gary, as a long time solderer and soldering instructor I checked the sites
you posted. Some are very good for general reference information, but I have
to tell you that the first one on the Northern Lights search was a bummer!
The guy who wrote that one is still in the dark ages. The use of steel wool
in a soldering operation went out before I singed my fingers for the first
time about sixty years ago. Other than that I found most references to be
acceptable for explaining soldering to the novice for enlightenment
purposes.
Thanks.

Mike,

There is a website I have found that gives you what you are looking for:

http://www.gtscomputers.com/psxmod/howto.htm
<http://www.gtscomputers.com/psxmod/howto.htm>

You might want to also try this link for more information:

http://www.ch.cutler-hammer.com/training/slfstudy/navigate/webmanualmenu.htm
<http://www.ch.cutler-hammer.com/training/slfstudy/navigate/webmanualmenu.ht
m>

Finally:

http://www.northernlights.com <http://www.northernlights.com>

A real good search engine. Put in the search box "How to solder" [with
quotations around it]. I came up with 2846 hits. There is also a
specialized folder listing on the left to help narrow your search even more
after the quotes around your term or phrase.

I have a couple of Co-Ops with whom I would like to review the basics of
soldering.

Does anyone know of an online class which goes over these basics?

I will supplement with hands on activity, but wanted them to read about
surface prep, pretinning, wet bridges, heat transfer, etc...

This activity does not warrant bringing in instructors, sending out to a
class, or purchasing videos, etc.

Thanks,

Lang
