Paper Dolls.... hmmmm ... 1973-79 for me.... I would say they were talking
about the Bishop graphics stick on paper dolls... but If you didn't have
those, you made your own... You got a thin 10mil sheet of frosted Mylar out
and your 5mm Hb drafting pencil and the data sheets and started drafting up
the image that would represent the IC, resistor, cap, or what ever component
you needed to place on the board... attached some scotch tape to it and
placed it in your layout...
I would say that paper dolls are the physical equivalent of your Cad Library
of footprints for electrical parts....

Subject: [TN] IPC designer certification - Paper Doll

I am studying towards my IPC designer certification. In the syllabus one
of the objectives is to explain the paper doll placement strategy. I am
not familiar with this stratgey, could someone please explain this to
me.
If anyone has any other advice about the certification, I would really
appreciate this.

Thanks in advance
