I don't have the answer to the quantitative questions you asked but I can
answer some of the qualitative ones.

I'm an advocate of both reflective and laser systems. I can't imagine
trying to run everything we build through one type of machine or the other.
We have both types at Merix as well as Orbotech's new InSpire, which I
believe is a hybrid of the two with some magic thrown in (or so I'm told).
When you have start comparing different types of systems you'll see each has
it's strengths and weaknesses. You'll find that different products run
better on one machine than the other. This includes signal and plane
layers, fine lines as well as different types of copper and dielectric.
You'll usually find that one machine will not only be faster but more
accurate in terms of false defects and missed real defects. You obviously
are looking for a specific solution for fine lines. Unfortunately I don't
have an exact recommendation for you. I can recommend that if you currently
have all one type of machine that you look seriously at diversifying.
