Matthew,

I am on your side.

You mention that strain relief is not an issue, however how will 7 small
strands hold up to handling and vibration of shipping and whatever else
environmental issues may come up? Soldering at least gives the wire a
fighting chance, kinda like solidarity so to speak.

We use very few wires in our product (as sold, the field adds many wires).
We use a crimp connector mainly because the wire is designed to be put on
and removed at times. The other end is soldered onto terminals on the board.
