Just remember that silicone coatings are generally 2-10 times faster in
passing osmotic humidity for a given thickness than acrylic (best),
epoxy or polurethane, so the final protection against vesication is
considerably inferior, especially if it is a type that does not require
a special (aggressive) primer to ensure adhesion. Many think that,
because silicone coatings are water-repellent, they are also
moisture-repellent. Nothing is farther from the truth.
