Jorge,
Are the newest model of connector leads are significanlty smaller/shorter
than your original, they may not be large enough termination to hold the
plug in place.  If they are much larger, the termination have enough heat
distubution within the lead to obtain a good quality solder.

  I would first question the quality of the lead I was trying to solder,
take a few components to quality and test the wetting force, if you have
those capabilities, and determine your wetting force.  There could be some
intermetallic growth or contamination on these leads, not allowing a strong
joint.
