Yup, yer right! (typically)

EPROM- Electrically Programmable Read Only Memory, is not reprogrammable
without the quartz glass in the top of the package. The engineer probably
specified the OTP part to save money (One-Time-Programming). Some people
have went to the extra trouble to allow programming on the board itself,
but that involves extra circuitry, which most people don't want to fool
with putting on, cuz that's why thay make programmers!

Maybe they should switch to using EEPROM, or E2PROM, depending on which
dialect you prefer, which do not need the windows.

I hope those parts aren't soldered into a pcb already!!!

Hi ya'll!

Gotta dumb question about EPROM's. If you screw-up and program them wrong
(wasn't me! I didn't do it...hehehe), you can't re-program them unless they
have a glass window in the top of them in which to use ultraviolet light to
erase them...right?

We've got some EPROM's from a company called "Waferscale" and I went to
their
web page and searched for the part number we have. They sell windowed and
non-windowed versions. I'm assuming the non-windowed types are a one shot
deal...am I correct?

Thanks!
