Lou,

I have done this in the past, but never on a midplane; only pinsavers and
gender-benders.  I did a microsection to prove
the contact and assembly, but after that I didn't have a way to
inspect.  We did do electrical test since they were 1:1,
so I guess that is an option for you as it sounds like the barrel is the
same.

I can only tell you it does work.  Sorry about not having a good inspection
solution other the test.
