This might be a case of "you gets what you pays for" and might be one of the
differences between the low-cost x-ray systems, and the more powerful, higher
resolution systems, like CR and others. You might try examining the part
with a CR and see what results. We'll stay tuned!
I also think one needs the a resolution of at least 10 microns in order to
determine if voids are in the 20-25% range and I don't think you get that on
a benchtopper.
