cOOL design Ken, did same :
use standard edge connectors, wired, on board ;
cut to size, with open ends for polish of contacts ;

say you take 3 , pushconnect all the wires parallel on all 3,
mount the 3 on board :

feme - feme - feme ---------- male/or feme (for test interface)
(keeping the split rainbow ribbon long enough,
just keep chopping off used [say month old, pending volumes]feme's

test from 1'st one , if you get a test record you don't like reconnect from
2nd,
or 3rd, to ensure connector is not the cause (weak [nonmarking] contact.

Very good point about the slide marks you've had :
not all connectors are created equal (or some are more equal than other):
initially you wedge in a board (1.6mm) AND a say SSteel thin shim ,
than to stretch the contacts you top slide additional thickness (say 0.5 -
1.6 mm card spacer)
between the board and shim .
That way you get desired not so clamping force .

I would not worry about minor hair line marks ;
as those you easily explain as a test "verification",
do some PR on customer .

If you'll need it really smooth :
knock off (linisher) the sides of connectors ,
insert a long card wrapped in scotchbrite and polish the pin elbows.
Worn nail files are good to start with .

Have always one or two triple boards spare
...................................................................

If you'll be fussy to extreme (strictly NO marks),
get yourself a couple of zebra strips laminated to your pitch ,
couple them on servo or shop air piston fixture(drive it from tester).
This is better, but it will take you more time to rig up .
As long as you clean the zebras from time to time and keep them close so
nobody wise stick finger to it yo'll be fine .
Use non conductive side clamps to hold zebras on mounting finger boards .
Don't try to glue them with conductive glue .

If you go on in line volumes one zebra is comming from below and one from
top on two drives or pistons
(prefer on steppers for speed and fine touch).
Can be mounted into any chain conveyor for a modest sum.

If my swiss esteemed english is too gibberish : hoy back for details .

Subject: [TN] goldfinger board testing

Hi, Technetters,

We have a board designed with gold fingers as I/O, could anyone advise a
method,
tool, fixture or connector that can be used in mass production to connect
the
gold fingers to the testing equipment so that reliable contact is obtained
and
without scratching the gold fingers of the board during load in and out.
Thanks
in advance.

Regards,
