<< I am stuck and thought maybe someone out there could help me out. Here
the problem:

We have an Olympus D-620L digital camera and I would like to get some
extreme close ups of solder joints (defective or not) so that I can show the
assemblers actual pictures of the good, the bad, and the ugly. The camera,
however, will not focus down to the resolution that I want/need. One of the
Manufacturing engineers was able to take a picture through the eyepiece of
one of our microscopes. It looks great except for the black ring around the
image (picture the old TV way of indicating you are looking through
binoculars!)

So, I was wondering if there is a way to attach the camera itself to the
microscope. I've looked in all my catalogs and come up empty. Anyone in
TechNet land know of a way?

Vendors please feel free to contact me directly.

 Thanks,

Hi Eric!

I use the same technique to take pictures. I have a Fujifilm MX600 Zoom. I
roll the rubber eyepiece "thingie" down so I can get my lense right up
against the eyepiece.

After I take the picture and download it, I import it into the graphics
editor that I use (Paintshop Pro) and crop out all but the stuff I want to
see...looks great to me. I've used it a bunch of times when dealing with fab
vendors to show them what we've seen at incoming inspection on the boards
they ship us...a picture is worth a thousand words!

I can email you one of the images if you want...
