Rick, the only discussion is with 6012/600.

IPC is a US-based trade association dedicated to the competitive excellence and financial success of its more than 2,600 member companies which represent all facets of the electronic interconnection industry, including design, printed wiring board manufacturing and electronics assembly. As a member-driven organization and leading source for industry standards, training, market research and public policy advocacy, IPC supports programs to meet the needs of a $33 billion US industry employing more than 330,000 people.

IPC does NOT author industry conensus standards. Your peers in the industry do that part; we only publish and distribute them. IPC staff provides support to the industry members building the documents by circulating them to the committee members for review, compiling comments, and facilitating meetings.

The IPC Technical Activities Executive Council (TAEC-volunteer members of IPC who have been selected as chairs of all the general committees) have set a policy that IPC staff is NOT PERMITTED to INTERPRET standards. In short, we cannot be consultants or referees. While we can assist you with locating specific clauses, the TAEC policy requires that we refer you to the committee leaders for "interpretation" of what words mean.

Please feel free to contact me directly if you are having trouble getting the information you need. If we can't get you connected with a leader that can answer your questions, I can provide a listing of the members of the IPC consultants council. Jack

Will the flex section be merged with 6013? My thoughts are that clear
thinking will be involved with whatever decisions made. The biggest
peeve I have is that the authors (IPC) are unable (at times) to
interpret the specs when asked. Pose that question to them Susan.
