I'd be nervous about this method, especially if any kind of
deflecting force could be applied to the exposed end of the
pins.
We've been involved in a number of this kind of application
but using the style of connection that stakes a long pin
all the way through and then snap a connector body over them
from either side. Teradyne comes to mind but I'm sure there
are other sources as well.
