Lon, EUTECTIC refers to an alloy, usually tin/lead, where the melting point
of the alloy is below the melting point of either of the two original
metals. Secondly a eutectic solder alloy has no pasty range, it turns from a
solid to a liquid or liquid to solid without going through a pasty stage as
most other alloys do. There are several eutectic solder alloys i.e..
Sn63/Pb37, Sn 62, Sn96 etc. Refer to J-STD-006 Appendix A. Any solder where
the "Liq" and "Sol" temperatures are the same (indicated by "e" in the "Liq"
column)is said to be a eutectic alloy.
Hope this helps.

Subject: [TN] eutectic
Dear friends,
It might seem a stupid question, but what does Eutectic mean when they talk
about eutectic soldertemperature?
Thanks in advance
