Working for a very high mix low volume house that doesn't get many sample
boards. I generally use the kapton tape method, I normally try to find a
via hole that will take the thermocouple bead. Insert the Thermocouple into
a via hole, I found you get very consistent probes which have little chance
of coming off or giving a bad reading. This method is simple and does not
disturb the product you are running. These results have been compared to
the flex probe you clamp on the board with no difference noticed, except the
clamp has a tendency to damage to board once it gets hot and the flex probe
tends to move with expansion give you bad reading sometimes. I have put my
flex probe put away.
