Unless you have a clue as to what the contaminant is, it may be quite difficult to
actually measure. A practical detection test would be to coat a sample with a lacquer
using a similar resin base to your adhesive and put it in the steam zone of a pressure
cooker for a few hours. If it vesicates, then you have problems. This way, you can
determine which cleaning method removes the contaminant best. If it is a silicone, you
may find there is little which will be sure of 100% removal.
