What's New for Cleaning and Coating

We have a near completion IPC-7525 "Stencil Design Guidelines", a work-in-progress IPC-HDBK-005 "Guide to Solder Paste Assessment", so now we would like to focus on the cleaning facet of stencil printing process. A new IPC task group, the Stencil Cleaning Task Group, will be meeting for the 1st time on Tuesday, 14 March 2000, 1:30 - 3:00 PM, in conjunction to APEX. This new project will be championed by Kantesh Doss, Nokia Mobile Phones Ltd, and Mike Bixenman, Kyzen Corporation.

IPC-7711 "Rework of Electronic Assemblies" is a good manual which covers procedures for reworking electronic. The cleaning experts in IPC decided to make it even better. A new task group, the Rework Cleaning Task Group, will have their inaugural meeting on Tuesday, 14 March 2000, 3:00 - 5:00 PM. This task group will be chaired by Terry Munson, CSL and Fonda Wu, Raytheon Systems Co.

Semiaqueous cleaning is not new. However, the 5-year old IPC-SA-61 "Post Solder Semiaqueous Cleaning Handbook" will be opened up for revision. The Semiaqueous Cleaning Task Group, led by Dr. Bill Kenyon, Global Centre for Process Change, will be meeting on Monday, 13 March 2000, 1:30 - 5:00 PM. New concerns in semiaqueous cleaning? Come and discuss it with the experts in APEX.

For those who would like to be introduced to the focus and activities of the IPC Cleaning and Coating Committee (5-30), we welcome you the a free forum entitled "Meeting Tomorrow's Cleaning & Coating Challenges" at 1:30 - 3:00 p.m. Tue March 14, 2000. Issues to be discussed during this forum are: 'no-clean' processes, cleaning technologies and cleanliness assessment, military QPL and industry standards for coating materials, environmental and regulatory challenges. etc. The topics will be discussed briefly by leading industry experts, followed by dialog with the attendees. Learn how to successfully navigate this maze by those who have done it!
