One further point - probably not applicable in your case.

If you cycle carriers too fast (without wash) they start going into the wave
too hot and will degrade rapidly (as well as burning fingers when they are
loaded).

As a general rule of thumb you can use the table below but there are many
exceptions!

Batch Product Product Carrier
Size Value Volume Type

1-2 Any very low Any (product testing-verification)
5 High Low Double Sided
10-15 High Medium Double Sided
20-30 High High Double Sided
30-50 Medium/Low High Open

Hope this helps

Regards

Fin

Subject: [TN] Wave Solder Fixture Justification

Hello All:

Anybody out there have a rule-of-thumb or a formula used to determine how
many
wave solder fixtures to purchase?

I'd like to keep the line going by having: 1 fixture being loaded with a
pcb, 2
or 3 fixtures in the machine, 1 fixture being unloaded, and 2 or 3 in the
cleaner (I like to clean - OA flux - after every pass).

Using the above sample, 6 to 8 wave solder fixtures would be required.

Thanks in advance,
