Dear all.
Having just received my March '00 copy of SMT magazine, I avidly
read the excellent article by Dr. Jennie Hwang entitled Solder Materials.
Maybe I've missed it among all the lead-free literature I've read, but
the reference to the newly enacted Home Electronics Recycle Law in JAPAN
sounds to me like the first actual legislation in place?
So far everything appears to be proposals, suggestions & recommendations.
Many suppliers are being proactive as legislation will surely come &
qualification cycles can take around 2 years but I would appreciate it if
anyone out there could give details of any released legislation mandating
a ban, or reduction, of lead content in electronic components?
Many thx in anticipation . . .

Thx & best regards . . .
