Hi Nancy!
It's just what the name implies. Basically a machine that uses a heated bar
to reflow and perform the solder connection. The bar can either made of
metal, or a ceramic material. (I've heard ceramic bars are more even in heat
and require less maintenance). There's a page that has a few different
machines that you can look at, and describes the uses for each machine. It's
