At another company where I worked, they were also pretty strict when it came
to wearing safety glasses.Pretty much the same kind of complaining and logic
was applied about the glasses. To this particular companies credit, they put
their money where their mouths (eyes) were and basically set everybody up
with an eye exam plus a pair of bona fide prescription safety glasses.

After that, there was never any more complaining about glasses because they
were real glasses, not the "El Cheapo" one size fits all plastic glasses.

You might want to suggest this especially if you enforce this rule for
insurance purposes. You probably can get your premium even lower if everyone
wears prescription safety glasses.
