<< Techies,

 I need help!!!

 I have 0402 parts on a .031" board.

 I use a Multitroniks 6000 pnp machine.

Production says the parts keep popping off the boards because they are so
thin.
They claim it does not matter how small the flat is, they cannot place 0402
on
 .031 material.

I believe this can be done.

How do you handle this situation?

Hi Tenison!

Sounds to me like something isn't set-up right with the machine. I've placed
0402's on .018" PCMCIA boards before...so it definately is doable.

The first things that comes to my mind is that it sounds like the board is
not supported well enough in the pick and place machine. Is there any tooling
or board support beneath the board? Along with that, is the head coming down
too far when placing the part?

Sounds like it could be a combination of both...head is coming down too far
and no board support could cause the board to act like a "trampoline"
spitting the part off.

Need to look at the machine set-up a little closer I would say...
