The letter we received from DSCC stated that 55110 was canceled for
new designs. However, we as test labs, continue to qualify board shops
for inclusion on MIL-PRF-55110 listings.

When I called DSCC and asked why we were qualifying and maintaining
the listing I was told "the govt cannot require that only their specifications
be used on drawings, so designers (purchasers of boards) can put whatever
specification or standards on their drawings that they want"

So, to answer your question - no 55110 has not been superceded by 6012,
however if your customer decides that 6012, Class 2 or Class 3 requirements
will be sufficient for their product, they are free to state that on the
drawing.

Even tho the notice came out "canceled for new designs" there are many
new designs using that spec number.
