Ja, Ja , next time I try my Deutch, than you'll cry .
Well, ol' Kaiser didn't have any problems in deciphering , and anyhoo, 'll
do anything to wake you up (good to see you agree with W.sometimes).
I'm one of the poor bastards (Carlsbad) who had mom speaking one ; grandmom
another one ; and in school couple more,
not mentioning latin, catholics, wars forever (lucky me Huns and Swedes
pulled out in time, would be a real polyglot than) !
And yo' think yo' mixed up. hehehe ,...(now 'm just mastering local southern
"english" [Mike 's rollin' eyes])

For engineers clothing, living, place, and languages are irrelevant means of
task at hand :

Yes, dear Guenter, I do write English if I absolutely do have to,
but I love it as much as I used to dance waltz in my teens in white gloves .

Potato (marbles can substitute) English gets stale quite quickly , despite
affection for Mrs DoLittle .
I am sure Quire Shakespeare would take to new eloquialisms like a duck to
water ; would he ever hit 3M .

(by the way, your reply to Werner had an anatomy of orange juice
concentrate,
had to put dividing lines in between to digest it )

Thanks for the shear support (being lonely here ; tellin' 'em [as you said]
there is so many variables in shear it's NOT funny at all),
I've got a serious brick wall here

Good shot on OFP's toes > bare Cu trim , seen it few times too .

cu (& thx) paul

PS
What makes you think you know what i did want to say my friend ?
Considering the text below ; you understood got just about all , don't sell
yourself (or myself) short .
PPS
Think faster too (yo' ll get the other half as well [kidding, ok, {see no
evil, speak no evil, hear no evil / Linux fan/}] ),
could go on about time factors, off line if you feel for physics

NB

Does ANYBODY out there use shear as means of process control indicator
(meaning changes highlighter) ?
Or are we the only loonies under Moon to confuse ourselves this way ?

Hi Paul

Man you think too fast. Or you write too slow. When reading your mails I
only get half of what you want to say. Take your time man, no hurry. Think
of us poor bastards who had a mom speaking another language than English (
by the way do you write English? ).

From what I understood:

Shear tests are in my opinion senseless. The shear stress you measure
depends more on the shear rate, and on the point where the force is applied
than on the grain structure.

When shearing a component you will not just bring in shear stress but
something which could be described as rolling the component over. This means
that shear stress and normal stress are present. To what amounts depends
very much on where you apply the load.

As I mailed Werner I do not fully agree with the common grain coarsening
theory (Well that's quite a local thing I assume). However, Looking at our
tests I might say that in a shear test with lap joint specimen you must look
more on the evolution of the shear force than on the force itself. As I
believe if you have large tin grains the tin will refine during the test
thus your force should decrease during the test in the first few um due to
refinement after due to damage.

Twice the life has nothing to do with twice the shear value. One depends on
good ol' Coffin Manson the other on the deformation behaviors. With other
words lifetime is degradation shear value is deformation.

Best regards

Guenter
