Carl -

Here's a shot from the Geezer set:

A process validation check sheet is subordinate to all the other checks you
may have performed to determine the adequacy of a suppliers business
systems, quality systems, etc. Otherwise you wouldn't be considering them
as an acceptable source for anything, right? Therefore - it does not
duplicate any of those aforementioned items.

A process validation check sheet, if it is to be a worthwhile document
rather than one more nuisance, should address the questions of whether the
supplier/source has the technical ability and technical controls in place to
successfully conduct the process and prevent delivery of producing faulty
product when critical variances start to occur. It should generally be
based on the engineering issues of the process, assuming the documentation
and business practice issues have been dealt with as I noted above. The
issues of early fault detection, process adjustment, fine tuning, etc.,
belong to the process owner, not the auditor.

Most specifically, the check sheet should not be a document which puts the
customer in the position of attempting to stand in the process operators hip
pockets while they are performing the work.

Regards - Kelly

P/S - Nancy T. - Why would anyone want to live in the frozen wastelands of
the north when there's going to be a 6-12" snow dump, when we're just
entering tornado season here in the un-sunny south?

Hi Carl,

I'm really not sure what process you want your Validation Check Sheet for.
But if you look in Advanced Product Quality Planning and Control Plan
( APQP ) in Appendix A - Product Quality Planning Checklists it gives very
good samples and I'm sure you can design the sheet to serve your purpose.
Good Luck
Nancy Trumbull
I hear that we Michiganders ( Battle Creek Michigan ) will be getting a
good 6 to 12 inches tonight . We can't wait. Our snow toys are starting to
get a little rushy.

        Technetter's need help,

I have been tasked with implementing a New Customer Introduction Team. Along
with the task I have been asked to create/design a "Process validation Check
Sheet" for all processes involved. Does anyone have suggestions or examples
of checksheets? Any amount of detail would be appreciated. Please send
either to TechNet or directly to me at the address below. Thanks in advance
for any and all replies.

Thank You
Carl Barnes
