There is a chart put out by IPC, it is called "Printed Wiring Board Defect
Evaluation Chart".  Order code is "PWB EVAL CH" and price is $25 for
members, $50 for nonmembers.

The IPC-A-600 is the acceptability document for Printed Boards, while the
IPC-A-610 is the acceptability document for Electronic Assembly.  Both of
these have been recently updated (Revs F and C, respectively).  They contain
numerous photos and illustrations of "preferred, acceptable and rejectable
conditions...."

There is also the IPC-QE-605A Printed Board Quality Evaluation Handbook,
which is a reference guide containing color photos of "various anomalies and
characteristics of PWBs".   All of these are on p.34 of the catalog.

It might do you well to request the latest catalog from IPC, from which I
have just been quoting.
