Hi All-
Welcome to the New Year and welcome to another year of the IPC Designers
Council. A year that we fully intend to fill with exciting and educational
events for all our members. We will use our first meeting this year to carve
the future of our chapter. We want to strongly encourage not only existing
members to attend, but any past members who are considering membership and
would like to help the council pick up the pace of events and activities.
If you haven't heard, the Council officers for the year 2000 are-
        President- Rick Hartley
        Vice President- Jeff McGlaughlin
        Secretary- Dan Tagg
        Treasurer- Keith Morgan

We're late getting started this year, but we're not going to let that slow
progress. Our first meeting (usually held in January) will be Wednesday,
February 9th at 7:00pm. The meeting will be held at Alpha-C (directions at
the end of this email). There will be a door prize presented at the end of
the evening to one of the attendees (We will have a door prize at each
meeting this year). Officers are not eligible to receive the prize, so that
all other attendees chances are increased. Additionally, we will have a
grand door prize at our December dinner. Each meeting you attend during the
year puts one more entry into the jar for the December drawing.
The agenda for the Feb 9th meeting is-
* Meeting Topics- A list of potential meeting topics was distributed
to each member, earlier this year. We will discuss those topics, along with
any other suggestions and create this years schedule. A new copy will be
distributed at the meeting. We will also discuss potential incentives to
increase membership and retain members. It has also been suggested that the
meeting night rotate between Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, instead of
every meeting being on a Wednesday. Food for thought.
* Designer Certification- For those of you who haven't followed this
lately, a lot of great things are happening. Things that can only benefit
our members. Since there is a certification workshop coming to Columbus in
April, this is a great time to discuss the possibilities.
* High Speed Workshop- We are having a one day High Speed workshop,
sometime in the next few months. We will select a date. The workshop will be
open to anyone wishing to attend, but will be free to Central/Southern Ohio
IPC members.
* Technical Roundtable- With the remaining time we will have a
roundtable discussion / Q&A of the articles in the January issue of Printed
Circuit Design magazine. Those of you who read it know that there were
several very interesting articles. This should prove to be quite
educational.
*       Door Prize Drawing.

Remember, if you are a past or present member and you're interested in the
future of IPC Designer Council, plan to attend the February meeting. Help us
create a dynamic council for all our members. Also, if you know of someone
who might be interested, tell them about IPC or just bring them along.
See you at the meeting.
Best regards,
Rick Hartley - President
