Dear colleague,

Attached please find the minutes of the IPC UL 796F Task Group meeting, held Thursday, January 27, during the IPC Winter Interim Meetings in Tempe, Ariz.

As you will note in the minutes, the focus of the meeting was the discussion of UL 796F. During the meeting UL staff announced that a Bulletin with the Proposed First Edition (PFE) of UL 796F will be provided to the UL 796F IAG members, of which IPC is one. UL staff requested the IAG members within the IPC UL 796F Task Group to review the document and propose agenda items for the UL IAG meeting to be held April 7, 2000 in San Diego.

Members of the IPC UL 796F Task Group which include several UL 796F IAG Members decided to hold discussions regarding the agenda on the IPC UL e-mail forum ([log in to unmask]), so that anyone interested in UL Recognition of flexible circuits can review the issues and resolutions from the group. These agenda items will then be proposed to UL staff February 11.

A final bulletin with the agenda for the IAG meetings will be made available to IPC in early March. IPC will make an announcement on the e-mail forum when this agenda becomes available.

Interested parties will then have the opportunity to review the agenda and bring up any specific issues they may have on individual agenda items. New agenda items can be proposed to the IAG members for them to propose to UL staff.

The IAG members are looking only for agenda items and not specific technical comments on this upcoming preliminary draft. Once the document has been worked on during the meeting, a second draft will be available for industry review and technical comment. A full timeline for the publication of UL 796F and how your company can play a role in this process can be found in the following meeting minutes.

Please note that the only way to receive future messages on this subject, including the availability of the preliminary draft, will be through the e-mail forum. To subscribe to the e-mail forum, which is a free service provided by IPC, send an e-mail:
