Richard,

I had used FUMEX filtration systems previously to remove solder fumes from
various solder processes. While I have not used them on wave soldering, they
do capture any exhaust from a process rather well. They come equipped with a
charcoal filtration system. Their website is:

http://www.fumexinc.com/

I suggest that you might have to retrofit the exhaust to your wave soldering
system. The exhaust fans on the wave soldering systems I've worked on, when
down for maintenance, were able to supply enough exhaust to remove any fumes
from the unit. I estimate that the exhaust systems I worked on was rated
between 100 - 500 CFM. This includes emptying the solder pot.

The location of the wave solder is important as well. If the area is not
well ventillated, you may have more problems with exhaust fumes.

Hope this works. If there are any questions, please call me directly.

 Subject: [TN] Portable Exhaust Units

 Morning fellow Technetters,

Is anyone out there using any kind of portable exhaust unit for solder pot
fumes when the wave machine is being worked on? When the 'top' of the wave
machine is opened for maintenance the exhaust system does not work and the
fumes fill the room. I was wondering if anyone else either does have a unit
or is considering a unit for this. I am interested in experience and
 opinions.

Feel free to reply directly to me off line if you like. And, Thanks in
 advance!
