Hi Steve!
Can you tell us a little more about this part? I mean how large is very
large? Is it a ceramic part? Also when you say the board is going through the
oven at 220º C., where exactly is that temperature measured on the board?
What kind of solder alloy are you using...a 63/37? If so, then if the
resonator location is seeing 220º C., there should be no problem. Sounds to
me like a good temperature profile plot needs to be done with a thermocouple
placed at the resonator terminals...seems to me that there's not enough
calories to reflow the solder...
