That reminded me , if the shear is (shouldn't be, by design) true concern on
heatsink ,
it may pay off to engage under simulated live conditions
(under power = hot, enclosed [original thermodynamic enclosure conditions
optimal, stabilized, standard use position], than don't forget to equate g's
in if you're firing the subject);

with the variety of thermoset/plastics characters it may save you
unsolicited surprises (did work for me).

Sorry to but on Glenn (neat collection)

Familiar with die shear on die, but not for heatsinks. Although, it should
still be meaningful if you had equipment that measured to that high a value.

Die shear test methods:
Mil-Std-883, Method 2019
Mil-Std-750, Method 2017
IPC-TM-650, Method 2.4.42.2

Mil test methods available at http://www.dscc.dla.mil/
IPC test methods available at http://www.ipc.org

Test houses maybe close to you and possibly capable:
ISE Labs, http://www.iselabs.com/
Brosnan Test Labs, http://www.brosnantest.com/
Microtek (Anahiem), http://www.thetestlab.com
Pentest Reliability Services, http://www.pentest.com/

Sorry if I missed anyone in this geographic location, and if I did, please
let
me know.

| Have anyone of you heard about these tests? I was recommended to go
through
| these two tests for the heatsink adhesive strength.
| Is there any place on the internet I can download the procedure for the
| tests? Is there any labs in the bay area offer these kind of testing?
| Thanks......
