In my view the primary benefit is you get a fixtureless test based on the
CAD net list in a short time (based on pad/hole count).
You would not want to test high volume though....too slow.
There are some superior suppliers who test as a service with flying probe as
well as board vendors who have the systme in house as well.

One economic benefit is attained on very dense designs where product life is
limited or revisions are frequent. Fixture cost savings can be significant
because you invest in a program rather that hard tool. Again, though,
quantity normally plays a roll in that decision.
