I'd like to add to Jackson's remarks:

1. SIR is generally required as an on-going reliability test for production, please check the custmers specification carefully. 

2. It's very importiant to avoid contaminating the test boards after processing so they should only be handled wearing plastic gloves and stored in clean plastic bags. One fingerprint near the resistance pattern can cause a failure.

3. If you have an existing Temperature & Humidity cycling chamber capable of meeting the test requirement you only need to buy a Resistance Measurement + Recording Instrument, but the chamber must have a port to pass the wiring through the wall and a temperature & humidity recorder.

4. Another supplier of SIR test equipment is ESPEC (Tabai-Espec Co Ltd.) They have several offices in China.

Alpha did not sell Sirometer several years ago.  In the market, there is
some companies to provide the "instrument type" of SIR tester .  Here is
one of the vendor

or you may find third party lab to help you to test.

Note: For SIR measurement on the soldering chemical materials such as flux,
solder paste, the standard IPC test coupon IPC-B-24 should be used.... not
on the actual production board.

      各位好!


      我们目前正在对产品上用的焊接材料进行可靠性方面的摸底实验,但进行SIR测
试时因找不到合适的仪器而难进行,标准中要求测试仪器满足100V下电阻测试范围达到
10的14次方,现在我们只有1000V测试时才能达到,在进行1000V测试时,很多时候电极间
就已经打火了.不知道还有什么别的办法没有.上次在ALPHA的一份介绍资料上有种仪器
Sirometer,不知道哪里有.有知情的朋友请告诉一下.谢!
