You need to provide a better explanation of your product and process, for 
example, are you using gold plated boards, is it double sided, what flux, 
how is flux applied,  are you washing the product, etc.?  Is the gold film 
all over the board or just at the top of solder joints.

Just to guess, if the gold film is at the top of a solder joint for a 
thru-hole component on a plated thru hole, it is flux residue, but need 
more info.

Could anyone out there help with the explaination of why after wave
soldering that there will appear a gold film mainly on top of the PWB? 
Some of our inspectors are concerned and question what this substance
is?
