Tim,

I agree with Dave Roesler @ Tri-C. Scott Lindblad at Automated Assembly
would be a good place to start.

Are you bidding on the board fab, or just the assembly? I would think that
the board fab might be quite a bit different if you're used to rigid. The
assembly operation might not be so bad - 15 mils is fairly thick for a flex
(especially if there are two 15 mil layers). Most of the challenge is
probably tooling to hold the parts flat when performing placement
operations and during reflow.

Hello All,

I need help. We have just had a customer of ours ask us to bid a flexible
circuit job. We haven't done flexible circuits yet, so I need some info on
the process. The circuit I'm looking at is a 4-layer
(Dielectric--Conductive-Conductive--Dielectric) flex board. The substrate
is
a polyvinyl chloride material and is .015 thick. It appears that the only
components that need to be added are 2 through hole connectors. What do I
need to watch out for to run this board through my Soltec Wave Solder(If
its
even possible). The production volumes are fairly high so hand soldering is
pretty much out of the question. Any info on flex circuit assembly would be
greatly appreciated. Also, does anyone have any experience with running
surface mount flexible circuits on Zevatech 700 series machines.

thanks
