     All component suppliers provide specifications for thermal shock for
     parts rated for wave soldering. Check with them if you are concerned
     about reliability. The same rated part may be 100 C for one supplier,
     125 C for another and 80C for a third. There are other preheat
     requirements you also should meet.

     As for selective fixturing, it again goes to part requirements. If you
     must wave solder parts not rated for wave (ex. BGA), reflow and
     selective solder, if you are doing wave solderable parts, why pay for
     selective solder fixturing.
