Hello Technet:

Maybe you board fab guys can help me out... We have a number of completed
(well, almost complete) electronic assemblies that we need to deposit solder
mask onto. The area that needs solder mask deposited is approximately .850"
square (but it has some patterns within it). The open area surrounding the
area which needs solder mask is approximately 1.7 inches square. If this is
difficult to understand, let me try to clarify it better. We have a populated
board that has an area of 1.7" square which is free of components. Within this
1.7 " area, we need to deposit a .850" square of solder mask, approximately
centered in the 1.7" area. (I hope his cleared things up a bit, I know I'm
confused!) Anyway, what is the best approach to deposit the solder mask? My
first thought was to create a small silk screen and print the mask. Can a
screen be made so small? How about dry film? Any suggestions?

Thanks a heap (this will really get me out of a jam),

Jim Marsico
